The Balochistan Food Department clarifies wheat procurement process, ensuring transparency and fair treatment for cultivators while stabilizing market prices. Measures include support price, monitoring committee, and modern storage bags.

The Balochistan Food Department has addressed recent allegations regarding the procurement of wheat in the province. Contrary to reports, the department has clarified that the wheat procurement process has not yet begun. The government aims to purchase 50,000 metric tons of wheat this year to maintain adequate supply and stabilize prices. A support price for wheat has been established in Balochistan to benefit cultivators.

Wheat procurement will be carried out fairly at approved centers on a first-come, first-served basis without any favoritism towards middlemen. To ensure transparency, a monitoring committee consisting of assembly members and officers appointed by the chief secretary will supervise the procurement process. This committee will evaluate transparency levels and address any deficiencies in the system.

The Food Department is dedicated to providing bardrana at all approved centers during the procurement season. Wheat purchases will be determined by storage capacity and demand to prevent wastage due to insufficient storage facilities. The provincial cabinet has approved a new wheat procurement method and authorized the use of modern, eco-friendly bags for wheat storage.

The Balochistan Food Department's commitment to transparent and efficient wheat procurement processes ensures fair treatment for cultivators and maintains a stable market for consumers. By implementing measures to prevent wastage and enhance storage facilities, the department aims to streamline operations and meet the wheat demand effectively.
