BLA Member Mairaj Alias Mama Apprehended in Karachi

An alleged member of the banned outfit Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), identified as Mairaj alias Mama, has been apprehended by the police in Karachi's Lyari area. Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) South Asad Raza confirmed the arrest, stating that Mairaj was considered the 'most wanted' terrorist associated with the BLA.

According to DIG Raza, Mairaj played a significant role in aiding BLA commander Jalal by providing crucial information for carrying out various terror activities. One of the notable incidents linked to Mairaj is the 2017 attack on security forces in Balochistan, where militants targeted an army vehicle traveling from Turbat to Gwadar, resulting in the martyrdom of Pakistan Army soldiers.

The arrested militant was also involved in spying on a military camp located within a school in Balochistan's Naseerabad, leading to a fatal attack on soldiers stationed there. Additionally, Mairaj assisted in the targeted killing of four individuals, who were cousins of an intelligence agency officer, by conducting surveillance on them.

Furthermore, DIG Raza disclosed that Mairaj played a role in orchestrating an attack on the Gwadar Port during the holy month of Ramadan, resulting in the deaths of several soldiers. The arrested terrorist was also implicated in an assault on army personnel in Nushki, resulting in multiple casualties among the soldiers.

The apprehension of Mairaj alias Mama marks a significant achievement in the efforts to combat terrorism and maintain security in the region.
