After a 15-year hiatus, Constitution Avenue in Islamabad reopens for public transport, introducing Route No. 42 for easier navigation and enhanced accessibility to key government institutions.

After a 15-year hiatus, Constitution Avenue in Islamabad has finally been reopened to public transport, bringing much-needed relief to government employees and commuters. The capital administration has introduced a new route, Route No. 42, to facilitate easier navigation for officials and visitors within the city.

Back in 2007, public transport was restricted on Constitution Avenue due to the establishment of the Red Zone in the capital. This restriction caused inconvenience for government employees as wagons were not allowed, despite cabs being permitted. While the Metro Bus service partially addressed the issue, the lack of public transport along Constitution Avenue remained a significant challenge.

The newly introduced Route No. 42 wagon will operate from Serena Hotel to Kohsar Chowk, passing by key landmarks such as the Foreign Office, Islamabad High Court, Election Commission, Parliament House, PTV, Marriott Hotel picket, and Kohsar Chowk. This route aims to provide a convenient and efficient means for officials and visitors to access these important government institutions.

To ensure the safety and security of commuters, all vehicles on Route No. 42 will undergo thorough searches and scans before entering the Red Zone. These vehicles will exclusively operate within Constitution Avenue, with drivers' and conductors' details verified by the relevant department.

The reopening of Constitution Avenue to public transport is a significant step forward for government employees and commuters, promising reduced travel time, improved accessibility, and a more convenient way to navigate the city. The capital administration's initiative to address the longstanding issue of public transport on Constitution Avenue is commendable and is expected to benefit a large number of daily commuters.

The reopening of Constitution Avenue for public transport marks a positive development in Islamabad, enhancing connectivity and convenience for all those who rely on this vital route. With the introduction of Route No. 42, navigating key government buildings and institutions has become more accessible, reflecting the capital administration's commitment to improving transportation infrastructure for the benefit of its citizens.
