Director General Asim Ayub kick-starts a tree plantation campaign in Islamabad to combat climate change and promote environmental sustainability, emphasizing community engagement and environmental conservation.
The Director General of Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Administration, Flt. Lt. (retd) Asim Ayub, initiated a tree plantation drive by planting a sapling at the Department of Agriculture in Islamabad. This event marked the beginning of a campaign aimed at combating climate change and promoting environmental sustainability.
During the kick-off ceremony at the Tarlai Center, the Director General emphasized the significance of tree planting in addressing climate challenges. He urged active participation from the community and assured support to local farmers involved in the project. Additionally, he directed the Agriculture Department to focus on renewable energy and kitchen gardening projects to enhance sustainability in agriculture and reduce environmental impact.
As part of the drive, over 5,000 saplings will be distributed to farmers in the coming days to encourage community engagement and foster a collective commitment to environmental conservation. This initiative reflects a broader effort to increase green spaces and enhance tree cover to mitigate the effects of climate change. The ultimate goal of the campaign is to inspire the community to contribute towards a healthier environment and a more sustainable future.
