The Rehman Medical Institute concludes ICHR-24 with Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad praising research excellence and advocating for university status to address healthcare challenges in Pakistan.

The Rehman Medical Institute (RMI) successfully wrapped up the three-day International Conference on Health Research 2024 (ICHR-24) on Sunday. The event saw the participation of numerous national and international researchers and health professionals, with special chief guest Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad, Chairman of the Higher Education Commission (HEC), gracing the closing ceremony.

During the ceremony, Dr. Ahmad praised RMI's research excellence and highlighted its potential to attain university status. He emphasized the crucial role of research in addressing national healthcare challenges and urged for the practical implementation of research findings to combat healthcare issues effectively.

The HEC chairman underscored the significance of conferences like ICHR-24 in nurturing a robust research culture within the country. He encouraged students to actively partake in research endeavors and strive for global recognition.

CEO of RMI, Shafique Ur Rehman, emphasized the institute's commitment to setting new benchmarks in research and innovation. He stressed the importance of leveraging the global shortage of healthcare professionals by training a new cadre of medical experts, particularly focusing on the youth demographic in Pakistan.

Despite meeting all accreditation requirements and receiving a positive evaluation from the HEC, the application for university status for RMI remains pending. Establishing a university status is deemed essential to cater to the escalating demand for advanced healthcare programs, including master's and Ph.D. studies.

Dr. Ahmad also toured RMI's cutting-edge Precision Medicine Lab and Clinical Trial Unit (CTU), showcasing the institute's dedication to advancing medical research and healthcare practices.

The successful conclusion of ICHR-24 not only highlighted RMI's research prowess but also underscored the critical need for fostering a vibrant research ecosystem in Pakistan to address pressing healthcare challenges and propel the nation towards medical excellence.
