The Chief of Punjab Anti-Polio Program, Khizr Afzal, leads a comprehensive vaccination campaign during Eid to combat poliovirus in high-risk areas.
The Chief of the Punjab Anti-Polio Program, Khizr Afzal, announced on Monday that a comprehensive polio vaccination campaign will be conducted at 92 sites across Punjab during the upcoming Eid holidays. More than 500 dedicated polio workers will be stationed at these sites to ensure the successful administration of anti-polio drops to children.
This initiative comes in response to the detection of the poliovirus in environmental samples from various cities in Punjab, including Lahore, Multan, Okara, Faisalabad, and Rawalpindi. With eight environmental samples testing positive for the virus, the authorities are taking proactive measures to safeguard children from this potentially deadly disease.
Khizr Afzal highlighted the importance of reaching out to high-risk areas, especially during the festive season when a significant number of people travel between districts. Special vaccination counters will be set up at bus terminals, railway stations, and entry and exit points of districts with elevated polio risk to ensure maximum coverage and protection.
The Punjab Anti-Polio Program is committed to eradicating polio from the region and urges parents to cooperate by bringing their children for vaccination. By working together and staying vigilant, we can create a polio-free future for our children.
