Recent heavy rains in Quetta lead to rising water levels in dams, managed safely by Chief Engineer Tareen. Hanna Flood Irrigation Scheme boosts Hanna Lake, supporting tourism and creating local employment opportunities.

Recent heavy rains in Quetta have led to a rise in water levels in the dams, causing an increase in the underground water level. Chief Engineer Irrigation Quetta Division, Engineer Bashiruddin Tareen, confirmed the safety of all dams in the area, with water being discharged through spillways to manage the excess. Tareen emphasized strict action against any encroachment on Irrigation Department drains.

During an inspection of the dams, Engineer Nadeem Ahmad Dehwar provided details on the water storage capacities of various dams. Spin-kariz Dam currently holds 2 thousand acre feet of water, while Sira Ghargai Dam and others are also at full capacity. Tareen assured that despite water discharge through spillways, the dams were secure, dispelling rumors of any potential risks.

Highlighting the completion of the Hanna Flood Irrigation Scheme in December 2023, Tareen mentioned the positive impact on Hanna Lake's water levels. The rising water levels not only support tourism but also create employment opportunities for locals. Plans to reintroduce boating in the lake aim to enhance tourist experiences in the region.
