Irrigation Department Ensures Dam Safety Amidst Heavy Rains

Recent reports confirm that all dams near Quetta city are secure and there is no risk of flooding due to the recent rains. Currently, approximately 10,000 acre feet of water have been stored in these dams. For instance, the Karkhsa Dam, with a capacity of 850,000 feet of water, currently holds around 300 acre feet, well below its maximum capacity. Similarly, the Wali Tangi Dam is at full capacity, while the Spinkariz Dam has stored 1,200 out of its 2,500 acre feet capacity.
