Federal Minister Rana Tanveer Emphasizes Fertilizer Supply for Farmers

During a recent meeting of the Fertilizer Review Committee, Federal Minister Rana Tanveer stressed the crucial need to ensure an adequate supply of urea and DAP fertilizers for farmers. The meeting, attended by key officials including Federal Secretary M/o National Food Security & Research Capt (R) Muhammad Asif and Federal Secretary M/o Industries & Production Waseem Ajmal Chaudhry, focused on evaluating the demand and supply of these fertilizers for the upcoming Kharif season.

It was disclosed that the demand for urea fertilizer for the 2024 Kharif season has risen by 3.6% compared to the previous year. The Ministry of Industries & Production, in partnership with provincial governments, is actively monitoring the availability and production of fertilizers to meet this increased demand. The government's unwavering commitment to bolstering agriculture and supporting farmers was reiterated, with a specific emphasis on implementing comprehensive measures for agricultural progress and the well-being of farmers.

To meet the surge in demand, measures are being implemented to ensure a consistent gas supply for fertilizer plants. Additionally, fertilizer manufacturing industries are prioritizing the enhancement of fertilizer production to cater to the expanding needs of farmers. The government is resolutely dedicated to leveraging all possible resources to bolster the agricultural sector and improve the livelihoods of farmers.
