Former Prime Minister Imran Khan criticizes the assault on police officials in Bahawalnagar, warns against IMF loans, and stresses the need for sustainable economic policies in Pakistan.

Former Prime Minister Imran Khan of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) expressed strong condemnation for the recent events in Bahawalnagar, where individuals in army uniforms were seen assaulting police officials. The incident, which sparked outrage on social media, led to collaborative efforts between the military and police authorities to address and resolve the matter promptly.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) issued a statement emphasizing the need for unity and denouncing divisive narratives propagated on social media. The Punjab Police also refuted false propaganda surrounding the incident and, along with military personnel, reached a peace agreement through mediation by senior officers.

During a media address at Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail, Imran Khan criticized the treatment of Punjab Police officials in Bahawalnagar, likening it to that of slaves. He highlighted the prevailing 'law of the jungle' in the country and cautioned against acquiring loans from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Imran Khan warned that IMF loans would lead to inflation, disproportionately affecting the vulnerable segments of society. He stressed the importance of governance adhering to the Constitution, rule of law, and democracy for economic stability, emphasizing that loans cannot solve the country's economic challenges.

Khan's remarks also touched on the lack of investment, which he warned would escalate debt and poverty, jeopardizing Pakistan's future. He pointed out the significant investments made by Pakistanis in Dubai over the past 18 months as a reflection of the country's economic situation.

In conclusion, Imran Khan's strong stance against the Bahawalnagar incident and his warnings regarding IMF loans underscore the pressing need for sustainable economic policies and governance reforms in Pakistan.
