The Karachi Water & Sewerage Board warns residents of an upcoming water shortage from May 16 to May 19 due to development work. Residents are advised to store water as the New Pump House Gharo supply will be temporarily suspended. The project aims to enhance water infrastructure in Karachi.

The Karachi Water & Sewerage Board (KWSB) has issued a warning to residents regarding an upcoming water supply shortage scheduled to take place from May 16 to May 19. This scarcity is a direct consequence of the ongoing development work being carried out in the area, according to a spokesperson from the KWSB.

During this specified period, the water supply originating from the New Pump House Gharo will be temporarily suspended due to collaborative development endeavors between K-Electric and KWSB. In light of this situation, residents are strongly advised to store an ample amount of water in their households to manage the expected shortage effectively.

The spokesperson further elaborated that an estimated decrease of around 13 million gallons per day (MDG) in water supply is anticipated over the three-day duration of the development project. The current project primarily focuses on the installation of new electrical equipment and panels at the Gharo pumping station, with the primary objective of enhancing the existing infrastructure and service provision.

It is crucial for residents of Karachi to be prepared for the upcoming water supply shortage from May 16 to May 19. By storing sufficient water in advance, individuals can mitigate the impact of the temporary disruption in the water supply. The ongoing development work signifies a positive step towards improving the overall water infrastructure in the region, ultimately leading to enhanced service delivery for the residents of Karachi.
