After months of disputes, KP and the Centre reach an agreement to address power shortages and outstanding dues, emphasizing collaboration for public welfare and economic stability.

After months of disagreements and discussions over outstanding payments, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and the Centre have come to an agreement to work together for the welfare of the public. The resolution was reached during a meeting between KP's Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi in Islamabad. The meeting, which also included Federal Minister for Energy Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari and the federal interior secretary, aimed to address the ongoing conflicts between the provincial and federal governments.

The conflicts between KP and the Centre revolved around issues such as prolonged power cuts in the province and outstanding dues owed to KP by the federal government. CM Gandapur had previously threatened to take control of the power distribution company, Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco), due to frequent power outages. The disputes had escalated to the point where legal action was being considered in March.

During the meeting, CM Gandapur stressed the importance of collaboration between federal and provincial institutions to tackle the root causes of line losses. He highlighted the mutual agreement to provide relief to the people, especially given that despite supplying electricity to the entire country, KP itself faced extended power shortages.

The energy minister expressed appreciation to Interior Minister Naqvi for mediating the tensions and fostering cooperation between KP and the Centre. He mentioned plans to implement a uniform model in KP and other provinces to address economic challenges and enhance the country's overall situation.

The meeting concluded on a positive note, focusing on issues related to public welfare. Interior Minister Naqvi emphasized the constructive nature of the discussions and the shared goal of combating power theft and line losses nationwide.

The collaboration between KP and the Centre signifies a united effort to boost the economy and resolve issues for the benefit of the people and the nation. The commitment to finding and implementing solutions across provinces demonstrates a cohesive approach to improving the energy sector and economic stability.
