Mayor of Karachi, Barrister Murtaza Wahab, spearheads a comprehensive cleanliness plan for Eid-ul-Azha, ensuring proper waste disposal and hygiene measures across the city.
During the festive occasion of Eid-ul-Azha, the Mayor of Karachi, Barrister Murtaza Wahab, has highlighted the city administration's dedicated efforts to uphold cleanliness standards. The collaborative work between Karachi Municipal Corporation, Town administration, and Sindh Solid Waste Management board is instrumental in executing a comprehensive cleanliness plan.
Across all 25 towns of Karachi, a network of 99 collection points has been established to gather sacrificial animal offal. These collection points are supported by designated landfill sites for the safe disposal of waste. It is estimated that a total of 98,000 metric tons of offal and 50,000 metric tons of solid waste will be collected and properly disposed of over the three days of Eid-ul-Azha.
To maintain hygiene and prevent unpleasant odors, fumigation and the application of limestone powder are being diligently carried out at the collection points. In a bid to discourage littering, section 144 Cr.PC has been enforced, with strict penalties promised for violators. Furthermore, the Inspector General of Police Sindh has assured security measures by deploying police personnel to safeguard municipal and SSWMB officials involved in the cleanliness operations.
These combined efforts are aimed at creating a clean and hygienic environment for the residents of Karachi throughout the festive period, ensuring a pleasant and healthy celebration for all.
