SSP Hassan Jahangir Wattoo leads Muharram security initiative

Islamabad recently saw a significant security initiative spearheaded by SSP Investigations/ Operations Hassan Jahangir Wattoo, under the guidance of DIG Islamabad Police, Syed Ali Raza. The initiative aimed to ensure a peaceful environment during the sacred month of Muharram ul Haram. A crucial meeting took place with Imam Bargah administrators and volunteers to discuss and implement enhanced security measures, promote religious harmony, and maintain tranquility across the federal capital.

During the meeting, Hassan Jahangir Wattoo stressed the importance of upholding security and peace throughout Islamabad during Muharram ul Haram. He directed all officers to collaborate closely with administrators to guarantee a secure atmosphere. The SSP highlighted the need for processions to strictly follow designated routes and timings, with a particular focus on effective patrolling utilizing commando vehicles.

Participants at the meeting pledged their full cooperation in ensuring peace and stability during Muharram. SSP encouraged officers to conduct joint visits to Imambargahs with administrators to enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for processions and Majalis, thereby fostering religious harmony. Furthermore, he advised police officers to engage with religious leaders from all sects to strengthen religious unity.
