The civil defence department in Multan has recently taken a significant step to improve its emergency response capabilities by dividing the city into four zones. This decision, initiated under the guidance of Commissioner Marryam Khan and Deputy Commissioner Waseem Hamid Sindhu, aims to better protect lives and properties in the face of potential crises.

Commissioner Marryam Khan highlighted the pressing issues of illegal petrol units and substandard cylinders in public transport vehicles. To tackle these challenges effectively, she mandated the division of Multan into zones, each to be supervised by a designated sector In Charge from the civil defence department. Additionally, she issued a stern warning to officials regarding the proper handling of seized materials in accordance with legal procedures.

Moreover, Commissioner Khan urged the Regional Transport Authority to conduct thorough inspections of public transport vehicles to identify and address any substandard cylinders, emphasizing the importance of proactive measures. Deputy Commissioner Waseem Hamid Sindhu echoed the need for stringent legal actions against offenders, particularly in cases involving illegal LPG refilling.

In response to these directives, civil defence officer Fatima Khan swiftly implemented the zoning plan, appointing Chief Instructors Faheem Imdad, Abdul Qadeer, Muhammad Irfan, and Qamar Altaf as sector Incharges for the respective zones. These officials will be responsible for overseeing specific areas under different police stations, ensuring a coordinated and efficient response to emergencies.

By addressing key issues and implementing strategic oversight measures, authorities aim to safeguard the well-being of residents and mitigate risks effectively. This proactive approach underscores the commitment of Multan's officials to ensuring the safety and security of the community.
