PITB and Punjab Minerals Department Enhance Mineral Deposit Monitoring

The Punjab Minerals Department, in collaboration with the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), has made significant strides in enhancing the monitoring and inspection of mineral deposits in the region. Through the Chief Inspectorate of Mines App developed by PITB, over 3,000 mineral deposits have been geo-tagged, enabling efficient tracking and management of these resources. A team of 14 inspectors has conducted more than 1,000 inspections across seven regions, ensuring compliance with mining regulations.

A recent progress review meeting, chaired by PITB chairman Faisal Yousaf at the Arfa Software Technology Park (ASTP), highlighted the successful implementation of the digital system. PITB's Additional Director General Qasim Ifzal, Director Atif Hussain, and other senior officials were present to discuss the positive impact of digitizing mine sites and conducting paperless inspections using mobile technology.

One of the key features of the system is its ability to track the presence of Emergency Rescue Equipment at mine sites, enhancing safety measures for workers. By digitizing the monitoring process, the system has streamlined the detection of mining rule violations, providing real-time alerts for any potential risks or accidents through the mobile app.
