The Education Minister of Punjab has recently announced the summer break schedule for schools and colleges in the region. The break will span two months, commencing on June 7, 2024, and concluding on August 19, 2024. This decision comes in light of the anticipated extreme temperatures that are forecasted to exceed 40 degrees Celsius during the summer months.
According to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), there are warnings of temperatures soaring to 49.5 degrees Celsius in June and 48.63 degrees Celsius in August. The Education Department is expected to issue an official communication regarding the summer break schedule soon.
As per the tradition, the summer break aligns with the peak heat period in Punjab, with temperatures expected to rise to 39°C in May 2024 and surpass 40°C in June 2024. The 2024 summer vacation is set to kick off on June 7 and conclude on August 19, providing students and educators with a much-needed respite from the scorching weather.
