Wheat growers in Punjab can now apply for gunny bags (Bardana) for the upcoming wheat procurement drive 2024-25 through the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) App. The application process commenced today, allowing growers to register themselves via the App to receive the necessary bags for wheat storage.

Deputy Director Food, Muhammad Shahid, shared that interested growers can submit their applications using their android phones through the App or seek guidance by visiting nearby food centers. The deadline for submitting gunny bag applications through the App is April 17. Following registration, the data of the registered growers will be forwarded to the revenue department for verification.

The distribution of gunny bags will begin on April 19 exclusively for those growers who completed the registration process. Registered applicants will receive notifications on their mobile phones regarding the distribution process. Eligible farmers with up to six acres of land will receive either six bags of 100 kg each or 12 bags of 50 kg each.

The wheat procurement is scheduled to commence on April 22 and is expected to continue until the following month. This year, wheat will be procured using the 'Girdawri' module, with a support price set at Rs 3900 per 40 kg. To ensure widespread awareness, the department is launching an awareness campaign through various media channels, including social media and traditional announcements in wheat-growing regions.

In conclusion, the wheat procurement drive for 2024-25 in Punjab is set to facilitate growers in obtaining the necessary resources for storing their produce efficiently. With the application process streamlined through the PITB App, the initiative aims to enhance transparency and accessibility for farmers participating in the procurement drive.
