The Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) and Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) have reiterated their commitment to jointly address the challenges faced by the business community in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In a recent meeting, SCCI President Fuad Ishaq and FPCCI President Atif Ikram Sheikh agreed to collaborate in advocating for the constitutional rights of KP, particularly in relation to electricity, gas, and other natural resources, as well as issues concerning cross-border trade.

The discussion focused on the obstacles hindering trade and business in KP, emphasizing the need for the province to access its fair share of resources as outlined in the constitution. Fuad Ishaq highlighted the significance of sectors such as gas, electricity, mining, and trade with Afghanistan for the economic development of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He underscored the importance of utilizing modern techniques to enhance the quality of natural resources and called for a review of Independent Power Producers agreements to address the energy crisis.

Furthermore, the meeting attendees expressed their determination to engage with the government and relevant authorities to resolve these issues in a constructive manner. They emphasized the urgent need for uninterrupted electricity and gas supply to KP, stressing that it is a constitutional right that must be upheld. The business community also discussed the ongoing Peshawar Expo Centre project, which is nearing completion and requires additional funding for its finalization.
