Three MOUs signed between AWT and Lahore universities, supported by PHEC, to combat anemia among female students. The initiative includes awareness campaigns, dietary habits promotion, and medical support, aiming to create an 'Anemia Free Punjab'. AWT commits to covering expenses and supporting anemic students for a healthier academic environment.

Three memorandum of understanding (MOUs) have been signed between Allah Walay Trust (AWT) and three universities in Lahore, facilitated by the Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC). The primary goal of these MOUs is to address the issue of anemia among female students. Anemia, a condition characterized by a lack of healthy red blood cells, can lead to fatigue and other health complications, affecting students' academic performance.

Under the initiative, a pilot project has been initiated in two public and one private university in Lahore. The project aims to raise awareness about anemia, promote healthy dietary habits, provide testing facilities, and ensure necessary medication for affected students. The long-term vision is to expand this program to all universities in Punjab, with the ultimate goal of creating an 'Anemia Free Punjab'.

The signing ceremony, held at the headquarters of PHEC and presided over by Dr. Shahid Munir, Chairman of PHEC, marked a significant step towards combating anemia in educational institutions. Key figures from AWT and the partnering universities, including Dr. Hadia Awan from the University of Central Punjab (UCP), Dr. Faleeha Zahra Kazmi from the VC University of Home Economics (UHE), and Dr. Shagufta Naz from the VC Lahore College Women University (LCWU), were present to formalize the agreements.

AWT has committed to covering the expenses of the campaign, providing educational materials, organizing seminars on healthy eating habits, and ensuring access to necessary medical treatments for anemic students. Dr. Munir praised AWT for their past successful endeavors in supporting students through scholarships and professional development programs, emphasizing the importance of this new initiative in promoting student welfare.

Dr. Shazia Lone, the Finance Secretary, and Hassan Rana, the Country Director of AWT, also expressed their support for the campaign, underscoring the collective effort required to combat anemia effectively among female students in Punjab.

The collaboration between AWT and Lahore universities to address anemia among female students signifies a crucial step towards enhancing student health and well-being. By prioritizing initiatives that promote awareness, education, and access to healthcare services, the partners aim to create a healthier academic environment conducive to learning and growth.
