A tragic blast in Hyderabad claims 24 lives, prompting Sindh Governor Tessori to offer financial aid and call for improved safety measures.

On May 30, a devastating incident shook the Preetabad area of Hyderabad, as a blast at a liquid petroleum gas (LPG) cylinder filling shop led to the tragic loss of 24 lives. Among the victims was two-year-old Haram, who succumbed to severe burn injuries at the Burns Ward of Civil Hospital Karachi, where he had been receiving treatment for 67% burns.

The explosion, which originated in a ground-floor shop, quickly engulfed the upper levels of the building where families resided. Approximately 60 individuals, mostly children, suffered serious burn injuries in the aftermath of the blast. Following initial treatment at Liaquat University Hospital, 22 critically injured patients, with burns ranging from 80% to 90%, were transferred to a major hospital in Karachi for further medical care.

In response to the tragedy, Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori stepped forward to provide financial assistance to the 60 affected families. Expressing his condolences, Governor Tessori highlighted the failure to learn from past incidents and stressed the urgent need for authorities to address the issue of substandard cylinders to prevent such disasters in the future.

Moreover, Governor Tessori announced that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif would visit Hyderabad following a request from MQM leader Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui. Emphasizing the importance of averting similar tragedies and ensuring community safety, the governor underscored the necessity of proactive measures to safeguard lives and property.

The tragic blast in Hyderabad serves as a stark reminder of the critical importance of stringent safety measures and regulatory oversight in handling hazardous materials. As the community mourns the loss of innocent lives, it is imperative for authorities to take decisive action to prevent such incidents in the future and prioritize the well-being of citizens above all else.
