Sindh Human Rights Commission Empowers Officials on Marriage Act

The Sindh Human Rights Commission, in collaboration with the Local Government department, organized an informative workshop in Mithi, Tharparkar, aimed at educating local government officials about the Sindh Hindu Marriage (Amendment) Act, 2018. The workshop's main goal was to raise awareness and empower community leaders regarding this important legislation.

Key figures from the local government, including the Vice Chairperson of District Tharparkar and other officials, participated actively in the workshop alongside members of the local Hindu community. The session highlighted critical issues such as the lack of public awareness about the marriage registration process and the challenges faced by union councils due to inadequate infrastructure.

During the workshop, it was noted that the 64 union councils in Tharparkar encounter unique obstacles in facilitating marriage registrations. Officials expressed their commitment to addressing these challenges, with suggestions made to translate the Sindh Hindu Marriage Act into Urdu and Sindhi languages for better accessibility.

The workshop proposed conducting similar awareness sessions at the Union Council level with community involvement to enhance the implementation of the Sindh Hindus Marriage Act. The event underscored the significance of collaborative efforts in safeguarding the civil rights of the Hindu community in Sindh.
