Fatalities and Infrastructure Damage in Heavy Rain Tragedies

Heavy rainfall in Balochistan and Azad Kashmir has led to a series of tragic incidents, resulting in the loss of lives and extensive damage to infrastructure. In Balochistan, the recent downpours have claimed the lives of 17 individuals and left 15 others injured due to various accidents such as roof collapses and lightning strikes. The border town of Chaman witnessed seven fatalities as a car carrying passengers was swept away by a flash flood. Flash floods triggered by heavy rainfall have also caused significant destruction to mud houses, roads, and railway tracks, disrupting transportation and trade routes in the region.

The impact of the heavy rains extended to Azad Kashmir, where eight individuals lost their lives in accidents caused by the inclement weather. In one tragic incident, a coach carrying passengers careened off a slippery road, resulting in multiple casualties. Additionally, a landslide along the Muzaffarabad-Mansehra road claimed one life, highlighting the dangers posed by the adverse weather conditions.

The devastation caused by the heavy rainfall is evident in the widespread damage to houses, roads, and bridges across various regions, including Ormara, Pasni, Ziarat, and Loralai. Rescue operations have been initiated by local authorities and security forces to assist stranded families and mitigate the impact of the natural disasters.
