Recent heavy rains in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cause 33 deaths, 46 injuries, and extensive damage to houses. Relief efforts underway to support affected areas.

Recent heavy rains in various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province have resulted in a tragic toll, with 33 people losing their lives and 46 others sustaining injuries. The Provincial Disasters Management report reveals that among the deceased are 17 children, eight men, and eight women, while the injured include six women, 32 men, and eight children. The impact of the heavy rains has been significant, leading to the damage of 1932 houses, out of which 326 were completely destroyed and 1606 were partially damaged.

Multiple districts, including Khyber, Dir Upper and Lower, Chitral Upper, Swat, Bajaur, and others, have experienced life-threatening situations and financial losses due to the inclement weather. In response to the crisis, the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has allocated Rs. 50 million for relief efforts, with the Provincial Disasters Management Authority (PDMA) releasing additional funds to support affected areas.

Relief materials such as tents, mats, kitchen sets, blankets, and solar lamps have been provided to districts like Swat, Chitral Lower, Bajaur, and others to assist those in need. The PDMA and other relevant organizations are actively engaged in relief activities, with the rains expected to persist until April 21. District administrations have been advised to remain vigilant and implement precautionary measures to mitigate further damage.

The aftermath of the heavy rains in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa serves as a stark reminder of the vulnerability faced by communities during natural disasters.
