Pakistan braces for record-breaking heatwave

A heatwave is currently affecting Sindh and Punjab provinces in Pakistan, bringing scorching hot weather to the region. Over the next 10 days, temperatures are expected to soar, especially in the plains of Sindh and Punjab. The mercury could rise by 5 to 7 degrees Celsius, with some areas seeing temperatures surpassing 49°C to 51°C, breaking previous records. Meanwhile, cities like Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and nearby areas are likely to experience temperatures ranging from 40°C to 43°C during this period.

Despite the sweltering conditions, Karachi is forecasted to have relatively cooler weather compared to other parts of the country. While temperatures in Karachi may touch 40°C on certain days, they are expected to hover between 36°C to 39°C for the next 10 days. Relief from the intense heat is anticipated in the first week of June, offering respite to residents.
