The Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) successfully executed a comprehensive cleanliness drive during Eid-ul-Adha 2024, aligning with the vision of Chief Minister Punjab, Maryam Nawaz. Under the leadership of CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the city witnessed a significant improvement in sanitation standards, setting a new benchmark for public service.

During the festive period, LWMC undertook a rigorous 72-hour cleaning operation, surpassing expectations to maintain the city's cleanliness. The efforts were highly praised by CM Punjab and other government officials involved in the initiative.

Over the course of Eid, more than 54,000 tons of green waste, offal, and animal waste were efficiently disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner. The management of 8,000 tons of animal remains showcased the efficiency and dedication of LWMC. The operation saw the disposal of 16,000 tons on the first day, 18,000 tons on the second day, and 11,000 tons on the third day of Eid, ensuring a swift and effective cleanup process.

LWMC's CEO emphasized the delivery of high-quality cleaning services to citizens in alignment with the Chief Minister's vision. The operation was meticulously planned, involving a control room, 291 UC camps, 105 temporary collection points, and 5 dumping sites for continuous monitoring. Eco-friendly waste bags were distributed, and a workforce of over 15,000 LWMC staff worked tirelessly in shifts to ensure a zero-waste operation.

The cleaning operation extended to various key locations, markets, mosques, and Eidgahs, utilizing all available LWMC vehicles and machinery. Streets were washed using a mixture of water, rose water, and phenyl to enhance cleanliness levels. Senior officials actively supervised the operation and recognized the hard work of the staff with rewards and appreciation.

Special measures were implemented to guarantee the operation's success, including crackdowns on illegal waste disposal. Offenders were identified through drone monitoring, leading to penalties for violators. Additional pickups were deployed to enhance sanitation services for the citizens, ensuring a clean and hygienic environment for all.

The successful implementation of the cleanliness drive by LWMC during Eid-ul-Adha 2024, under the guidance of CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, exemplifies a commitment to public service and environmental sustainability. The dedication and efficiency displayed by LWMC staff in maintaining the city's cleanliness set a new standard for sanitation practices, reflecting a collective effort towards a cleaner and healthier Lahore.
