Mayor Karachi stresses coordination for a clean Eid-ul-Azha, with a focus on waste disposal and efficient management to ensure a seamless celebration.

As the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Azha approaches, Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab has stressed the importance of coordination among officials and local council representatives to guarantee a hassle-free experience for citizens. One of the key directives issued is the spraying of limestone at offal collection points and other locations to uphold cleanliness standards.

At a recent meeting of the Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB), MD Syed Imtiaz Ali Shah presented a detailed plan for the cleaning operations scheduled for Eid-ul-Azha. The primary focus will be on the proper disposal of sacrificial animal waste, with eight designated trenches for safe burial at various landfill sites.

To enhance waste collection efficiency, a total of 99 collection points will be set up across all districts, accompanied by the deployment of additional vehicles and labor resources for the five-day Eid-ul-Azha operation. Private cleaning contractors are set to play a pivotal role in this initiative.

In addition, complaint centers have been established in all districts to address grievances promptly, with information disseminated through social and print media channels. Citizens are encouraged to seek assistance via the round-the-clock helpline number 1128.

With meticulous planning and strategic measures in place, Karachi is gearing up to ensure a clean and seamless Eid-ul-Azha celebration for its residents. The collaborative efforts of officials, local representatives, and private contractors signify a commitment to maintaining hygiene standards and addressing waste management effectively during this festive period.
