The Islamabad Capital Territory administration excelled in managing Eid cleanup operations, disposing of over 0.2 million offals and 1,750 tons of waste. Efforts to engage citizens and improve waste management practices were highlighted.

The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration successfully managed the cleanup operations during Eid ul Azha, disposing of approximately 0.2 million offals and more than 1,750 tons of waste. This marked a significant increase from the previous year, where only about 94,000 offals were disposed of in the Federal Capital during Eid. The administration's spokesperson highlighted the meticulous efforts undertaken to ensure the collection of offals and waste from every household.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Islamabad, Irfan Nawaz Memon, shared that over 150 citizen complaints were received through the 1334 helpline, leading to swift responses from the immediate action teams. On the first day of Eid, a substantial amount of offals and waste were disposed of, with over 99,000 offals and more than 1,750 tons of waste collected. Additionally, more than 100 citizen complaints were promptly addressed.

On the following day of Eid, cleanup operations continued, resulting in the disposal of over 99,000 offals. Despite receiving over 50 complaints through the helpline, the district administration swiftly addressed the issues. The DC commended the Assistant Commissioners and the district administration teams for their unwavering commitment to maintaining the city's cleanliness.

Efforts were made to involve citizens in the cleanliness drive, with a focus on rural areas this year. Biodegradable bags were distributed for waste collection, a strategy that proved successful in urban areas where residents placed filled bags outside their homes for collection. A control room was established in Safe City to manage complaints, with 150 issues addressed promptly in the initial two days.

The DC expressed gratitude to the CDA staff and Union Councils for their dedicated work, especially considering the challenging weather conditions. Furthermore, mass sacrifices were carried out at 42 locations in Islamabad, with thorough cleaning and the use of rose water to maintain a pleasant environment.

The successful cleanup operations in Islamabad during Eid ul Azha not only ensured a cleaner environment but also showcased the collaborative efforts of the administration, citizens, and various teams involved. The increase in waste disposal compared to the previous year reflects a positive trend towards better waste management practices in the capital city.
