Deputy Commissioner Quetta addresses the surge in chicken prices due to illegal practices in the poultry industry. Measures taken to stabilize prices and protect consumers.

Deputy Commissioner Quetta, Lieutenant (R) Saad bin Asad, has shed light on the soaring prices of chicken in the city. He revealed that some poultry farm owners are engaging in illicit practices by sending money to unregistered dealers in Punjab to procure chickens, which are then sold at inflated rates locally. To combat this issue, a decision has been made to prohibit the export of chicks in order to stabilize the price of chicken meat.

The illegal activities in the poultry industry have led to a significant surge in the price of chicken, reaching as high as Rs 840 per kilogram. In response to this alarming situation, Deputy Commissioner Quetta has taken proactive steps by reaching out to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to initiate legal actions against the errant poultry farm owners.

It is worth noting that the current price of chicken meat across the country exceeds 750 rupees per kilogram, indicating a pressing need for regulatory intervention to safeguard consumers from exploitation and price manipulation in the poultry market.
