As part of security measures ahead of the arrival of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and his foreign delegation to Karachi, major thoroughfares in the city will be closed for traffic on Tuesday. The Karachi traffic police have shared an alternate traffic plan for commuters to navigate the city during this time.

According to a traffic police spokesperson, several key routes will be closed for traffic, including both tracks of Sharea Faisal from Jinnah Airport to PIDC, as well as routes to Sharea Quaideen and Gurumandir. Dr Ziauddin Road and MA Jinnah Road will also be affected, with specific closures in place.

For commuters traveling to the airport from DHA and Clifton, alternative routes through Korangi Industrial Area are advised. Passengers from I.I. Chundrigarh Road and Kemari West are recommended to utilize Mauripur Road and Lyari Expressway. Those heading to Jinnah Hospital Cardio and NICVD are advised to take routes through Defense and Qayyumabad Flyover.

The traffic police have provided detailed guidance on alternative routes for various destinations in the city, ensuring minimal disruption to daily commutes. In case of further assistance, commuters can contact the traffic police helpline at 1915.

In light of the foreign delegation's visit, Karachi Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi has declared a public holiday on April 23 to facilitate a smooth reception for President Raisi and his delegation. The Iranian President is currently on an official visit to Pakistan, with plans to visit Karachi, the country's largest city, later today.
