IRSA's recent data reveals water levels in Indus River dams, emphasizing efficient water management for sustainable development and water security.

The Indus River System Authority (IRSA) recently released data regarding the water levels and releases in various dams along the Indus River. This information is crucial for understanding the water management in the region and ensuring adequate water supply for irrigation and other purposes.

According to the latest report, the total water release from different rim stations was 332,200 cusecs, while the inflow into the system was 367,500 cusecs. At Tarbela Dam, the water level in River Indus was measured at 1467.97 feet, which was significantly higher than its minimum level of 1,398 feet. The dam recorded an inflow of 145,400 cusecs and an outflow of 145,000 cusecs.

Similarly, at Mangla Dam on River Jhelum, the water level stood at 1183.15 feet, surpassing its dead level by 133.15 feet. The inflow and outflow at Mangla Dam were reported as 64,900 cusecs and 30,000 cusecs respectively.

Various points along the rivers also saw significant water releases: Kalabagh (193,800 cusecs), Taunsa (129,500 cusecs), Guddu (98,800 cusecs), Sukkur (42,100 cusecs) from River Indus, and Nowshera (98,700 cusecs) from River Kabul, along with Marala (34,900 cusecs) from River Chenab.

The data provided by IRSA gives us valuable insights into the current water situation in the region. It highlights the importance of efficient water management to meet the needs of agriculture, industry, and domestic users. Monitoring these water levels and releases is essential for sustainable development and ensuring water security for all stakeholders.
