Updates from IRSA on water levels and releases in key dams across Pakistan, emphasizing the importance of water management for agriculture, energy, and development.

Water management in Pakistan is crucial for agriculture, energy, and overall development. The Indus River System Authority (IRSA) recently provided updates on water levels and releases from key dams across the country.

At Tarbela Dam, located on the River Indus, the water level was measured at 1462.87 feet, exceeding its dead level by 64.87 feet. The dam recorded an inflow of 188,600 cusecs and an outflow of 185,000 cusecs. Similarly, at Mangla Dam on the River Jhelum, the water level stood at 1188.45 feet, surpassing its dead level by 138.45 feet, with an inflow and outflow of 55,800 cusecs and 55,000 cusecs respectively.

Water releases at other points were significant as well: Kalabagh - 189,200 cusecs, Taunsa - 151,300 cusecs, Guddu - 124,300 cusecs, Sukkur - 66,700 cusecs. Additionally, from River Kabul, 85,100 cusecs were released at Nowshera, and 10,400 cusecs from River Chenab at Marala.

These figures highlight the management of water resources in Pakistan to ensure adequate supply for various needs while maintaining dam safety and efficiency.

Understanding the water levels and releases in Pakistan's major dams is essential for sustainable development and resource management. By monitoring and regulating water flow, authorities can balance agricultural, industrial, and domestic water requirements effectively. It is crucial to continue such monitoring and reporting to safeguard water resources for future generations.
