Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Labour Department, Fazal Shakoor Khan, has instructed authorities to accelerate the construction of the labour complex in Regi Lalma, Peshawar, and ensure its prompt completion. During his visit to the Workers Welfare Board (WWB) in Hayatabad, Peshawar, the minister emphasized the need to take action against illegal occupation of flats in labour colonies.

Mr. Fazal Shakoor Khan was briefed on the status of various welfare grants, revealing discrepancies between approved budgets and actual disbursements. For instance, while 200 million rupees were sanctioned for marriage grants, only 93 million has been released by the Workers Welfare Fund (WWF) in Islamabad. Similarly, out of the approved 150 million budget for death grants, only 42 million has been disbursed.

The minister was also updated on the progress of the Regi Lalma flats project, with external electrification work for the 2,056 flats now completed. Once the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) extends power supply to the complex, individual energy meters will be installed for occupancy.

Additionally, the minister was briefed on the board's hajj policy, highlighting that 10 industrial workers are selected annually for pilgrimage through open balloting.

Minister Fazal Shakoor Khan's directives underscore the government's commitment to enhancing welfare facilities for labourers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The focus on completing the labour complex and ensuring transparent allocation of welfare grants reflects a proactive approach towards improving the living standards of workers in the region.
