In a bid to maintain law and order in the provincial capital, Punjab Local Government Minister Zeeshan Rafique has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Lahore to take strict action against illegal markets operating in the city. The Minister has specifically highlighted the ban on selling animals on roads and streets, imposed by the Punjab government, which must be strictly enforced.

During a recent inspection of a temporary sacrificial animal market at Sagiyan, Minister Rafique, accompanied by other officials, assessed the facilities provided to buyers and sellers. He expressed his satisfaction with the arrangements made by the Metropolitan Corporation Lahore and assured that traders and citizens would receive all necessary facilities at the official sale points.

Emphasizing the importance of proper lighting and security at these sale points, the Minister also stressed the need for municipal staff to be polite and ensure the provision of essential services to citizens. Any complaints from traders or buyers are to be promptly addressed to maintain a smooth trading environment.

Since June 7, temporary markets for sacrificial animals have been established across Punjab, operating on a no-profit no-loss basis. In Lahore, the district administration is overseeing one permanent and seven temporary markets strategically located throughout the city to facilitate the buying and selling of sacrificial animals.

The crackdown on illegal markets selling animals in Lahore reflects the Punjab government's commitment to upholding regulations and ensuring a safe and organized trading environment for citizens. By providing adequate facilities and supervision at official sale points, the authorities aim to streamline the process of purchasing sacrificial animals, especially during religious festivals.
