Amidst the excitement of the Pakistan-New Zealand T20 cricket series, Lahore police have taken a firm stance against gambling activities, both conventional and online. In a series of operations this year, authorities have registered 423 cases related to gambling, leading to the arrest of 1863 suspects. The crackdown has also resulted in the recovery of over Rs5.4 million from those involved in illicit betting activities.
Capital City Police Officer Lahore, Bilal Siddique Kamyana, has directed law enforcement officials to escalate efforts in targeting gambling dens, both physical and virtual. He emphasized the importance of conducting intelligence-based operations to root out individuals engaged in online gambling businesses. Kamyana stressed the use of Information Technology to combat online betting and urged vigilance on social media platforms and applications that promote such activities.
Expressing a strong commitment to eliminating the scourge of online gambling, the CCPO described it as a societal curse and advised parents to shield their children from its influence. He called upon citizens to actively contribute to creating a gambling-free society and combatting other criminal activities.
