Minister Rafique Boosts Emergency Services at UHS

The Punjab government, in collaboration with the University of Health Sciences (UHS), is gearing up to introduce the Emergency Rescue 1122 service on Motorways starting this December. This initiative, announced by Minister for Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Khawaja Salman Rafique, aims to enhance emergency response capabilities on the roadways. Minister Rafique emphasized the importance of leveraging universities like UHS for training and support, recognizing them as valuable assets for such critical services.

During a recent visit to the UHS facilitation center, Minister Rafique was briefed on the institution's student services and facilities by Vice Chancellor Professor Ahsan Waheed Rathore. Impressed by the center's operations and the daily support provided to hundreds of students, Rafique suggested plans to increase the number of Ph.D. faculty members at UHS. Additionally, he expressed intentions to explore the university's new campus in the near future.

Professor Rathore, in response, expressed gratitude for the minister's visit and highlighted the center's role in assisting hundreds of students and visitors daily. He emphasized the advanced laboratory equipment at UHS, envisioning them as potential hubs for diagnostic services in the Punjab region with government support. Furthermore, Professor Rathore stressed UHS's commitment to standardizing medical, dental, and nursing education, advocating for the segregation of allied health sciences and pharmacy education to enhance educational quality.
