The fiscal year 2023-24 in Pakistan saw significant allocations towards social welfare programs, including BISP, Kafalat Program, Zakat system, and more, aiming to uplift marginalized communities and promote inclusive development.

In the fiscal year 2023-24, the Economic Survey revealed significant allocations towards various social welfare programs in Pakistan. One of the key initiatives, the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), received Rs 466 billion, with Rs 328.96 billion disbursed to beneficiaries. The BISP aims to assist impoverished women in alignment with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and operates through multiple offices nationwide.

Another notable program, the Kafalat Unconditional Cash Transfer Programme, benefited 9.4 million individuals with Rs 257.47 billion, while the Conditional Cash Transfer Programme disbursed Rs 55.97 billion. The Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF) provided interest-free loans and essential services, distributing Rs 1.99 billion through partner organizations in 149 districts.

Furthermore, Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal extended support to vulnerable groups by offering educational aid, medical treatment, and funding for charitable institutions. In FY 2024, Rs 7.67 billion was allocated, with Rs 4.32 billion utilized for core projects.

The Zakat system, managed by the federal government, distributed Rs 7.39 billion to aid the needy, orphans, widows, and disabled individuals across provinces and territories. Additionally, the Workers Welfare Fund (WWF) allocated funds for scholarships, marriage grants, and death grants, benefiting thousands of workers' families. The Employees' Old-Age Benefits Institution (EOBI) disbursed Rs 42.53 billion for pension schemes during the period.

The government's commitment to social welfare through these programs underscores its efforts to uplift marginalized communities and ensure a more equitable society. By providing financial assistance, healthcare support, and educational opportunities, these initiatives play a crucial role in addressing poverty and promoting inclusive development in Pakistan.
