Two police officers, Nawaz Khan and Noor Muhammad, were severely injured in a shooting incident along the Wana Kari Kot road in South Waziristan. The assailants, traveling in a car with tinted windows, targeted the officers who were on a motorcycle. Under the cover of night, the attackers managed to escape from the scene, leaving the officers wounded. Both officers were rushed to the Wana headquarters hospital for immediate medical attention, with Nawaz Khan later transferred to a tertiary hospital in Dera Ismail Khan due to the seriousness of his injuries.

The attack has caused fear among the local population, raising concerns about a potential resurgence of terrorism in an area that had previously been cleared of militants in 2007 through joint efforts of local tribes and security forces. Noor Zaman Wazir, a prominent figure in the area, strongly condemned the terrorist act and emphasized the need for a united front to prevent such incidents and safeguard the tribal community.

An investigation is currently ongoing to identify and apprehend the perpetrators of the attack. So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the assault. In response, residents have called on the government to implement measures that would deter similar incidents in the future and ensure the safety of the community.

It underscores the importance of continued vigilance and cooperation between authorities and local residents to combat threats to peace and stability. As the investigation progresses, efforts to enhance security measures and promote community resilience will be crucial in preventing such acts of violence in the future.
