In recent events, a former Superintendent of Police (SP) and 19 other police officers have been accused of torture following an order from the Lahore High Court (LHC). The allegations involve the unlawful occupation of a residence and physical abuse of individuals, including Sajjad Nadeem and his companion. The victims were reportedly mistreated at an undisclosed location, with a video of the incident allegedly shared with former SP Hafizur Rehman Bhutta. As a result, a case has been filed at the Defence C police station, naming 12 unidentified individuals as suspects for acts of kidnapping, theft, and violence. The court has directed the police to take legal action against the accused officers.

Meanwhile, a controversial police encounter in Karachi's Korangi Zaman Town area on March 23 has sparked further scrutiny. Following a complaint by the deceased's elder brother, a murder case has been registered against the Zaman Town Police Party. The complainant alleges that the police unlawfully caused the death of his brother, Arbaaz. Arbaaz had gone to the market before Iftar but never returned home. Investigations revealed his motorcycle at the Zaman Town police station, and his body was found with gunshot wounds to the abdomen and severe injuries to his nose, hands, feet, and shoulder.

These incidents highlight the importance of upholding the rule of law and ensuring accountability within law enforcement agencies. It is crucial for authorities to investigate such cases thoroughly and hold those responsible for misconduct or abuse of power accountable. Transparency and justice are essential for maintaining public trust and ensuring the protection of citizens' rights.
