The Punjab Government partners with the Competition Commission of Pakistan to enhance transparency and consumer protection in the housing sector, cracking down on deceptive marketing practices and promoting ethical standards.

The Punjab Government has taken a significant step towards ensuring transparency and consumer protection in the housing sector by deciding to share updated information on housing schemes with the Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP). This decision was made during a meeting led by Secretary Housing, Urban Development & Public Health Engineering Department, Government of Punjab, Capt. (Retd.) AsadUllah Khan. The meeting, which included key officials from CCP and relevant government departments, aimed to address deceptive marketing practices prevalent in some housing schemes.

CCP Member Office of Fair Trade, Saeed Ahmad Nawaz, emphasized the importance of cracking down on illegal housing schemes that mislead consumers by providing false information. The CCP is actively investigating housing schemes that violate Section 10 of the Competition Act, 2010. To support these efforts, the CCP requested updated details on housing schemes and sought assistance for conducting Public Hearings to ensure accountability and fairness in the housing market.

This collaborative effort between the Punjab Government and CCP signifies a crucial milestone in safeguarding consumer rights and promoting ethical practices in the housing industry. By sharing information and working together, both entities are striving to create a more transparent and trustworthy environment for individuals seeking to invest in housing schemes in Punjab.
