The Punjab government's Kisan Card registration program offers interest-free loans to farmers, aiming to enhance agricultural productivity and empower the farming community in the region.

The Punjab government has introduced the Kisan Card registration program to aid farmers in the region. This initiative aims to provide annual production loans totaling a significant 300 billion rupees to assist farmers in enhancing their agricultural activities. Through this program, farmers can apply for loans of up to Rs. 150,000 per crop season to procure essential agricultural inputs such as seeds and fertilizer.

To participate in the program, farmers are required to send their ID card numbers to 8070 via SMS, along with the message 'PKC Space' from their mobile phones. This simple process enables farmers to access the financial support they need to boost their farming operations.

More than 500,000 farmers are anticipated to benefit from this scheme, provided they own a maximum of 12.5 acres of land that is registered in the land record center. Additionally, farmers must ensure that their mobile SIM card is linked to their own ID card number to qualify for the program. Once the farmer's ID card is verified against NADRA records and any outstanding financial obligations are settled, they can avail an interest-free loan that can be repaid in six monthly installments.

Upon successful repayment of the loan, farmers have the opportunity to reapply for another loan for the subsequent crop cycle. This cycle of financial assistance is designed to support farmers in meeting their agricultural needs effectively and sustainably.

The Kisan Card registration program initiated by the Punjab government is a significant step towards empowering farmers and enhancing agricultural productivity in the region. By providing accessible and interest-free loans, this program not only supports individual farmers but also contributes to the overall growth of the agricultural sector. Through such initiatives, the government aims to create a conducive environment for farmers to thrive and contribute to the economic development of Punjab.
