Punjab Home Department Implements Section 144 for Eidul Azha

The Punjab Home Department has taken a significant step by enforcing Section 144 to control the sale of sacrificial animals on the streets and roads of Lahore. This measure aims to ensure public safety, maintain law and order, and facilitate smooth traffic flow in the provincial capital. The restriction, which will be in effect until June 20, limits the buying and selling of sacrificial animals to eight designated cattle markets in Lahore.

Deputy Commissioner of Lahore requested the implementation of Section 144 to streamline the sale of sacrificial animals, emphasizing the importance of organized markets for this purpose. The designated cattle markets include Shahpur Kanjra, LDA City Defence Road, Burki Road Paragon, Saggian Road, Sports Complex Addarakh, NFC Multan Road, Raiwind Sundar Road, and New King Lane.

Sacrificing animals is a religious practice observed during Eidul Azha in the month of Zilhajj to honor the tradition of Sunnat-e-Ibrahimi. This year, the Muslim festival of Eidul Azha is scheduled to be celebrated on June 17 across Pakistan.

The enforcement of Section 144 in Lahore underscores the authorities' commitment to ensuring a safe and organized environment for the sale of sacrificial animals during the upcoming Eidul Azha festivities. By restricting such activities to designated cattle markets, the government aims to promote public safety, maintain order, and facilitate a seamless celebration of this important religious occasion.
