Punjab Police Arrests Suspect in Arifwala Rape Case

On April 27, 2024, in Arifwala, Pakpattan, a man was apprehended by the police on charges of raping a 14-year-old girl. The incident, which sparked outrage, prompted Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Dr Usman Anwar to swiftly order the arrest of the accused.

The accused, identified as Awais, reportedly gained entry into the victim's residence by climbing over a wall in the Rang Shah police station area of Arifwala. Upon receiving the report, law enforcement officials promptly took action, registering a case against Awais and taking him into custody. The victim underwent a medical examination to gather evidence in support of the allegations.

According to a Punjab police spokesperson, the accused remained in police custody for three days as investigations into the matter continued. The authorities are diligently pursuing further leads to ensure justice is served in this distressing case.
