Rawalpindi police have deployed 1400 officers to safeguard 677 polio teams, intensifying security measures for the ongoing campaign.

In a bid to ensure the safety of anti-polio campaign supervisors, health workers, and teams, the Rawalpindi police have taken decisive steps to provide foolproof security cover. A total of 1400 well-equipped jawans and police officers have been deployed to safeguard 677 teams of polio workers across the district, following directives from top Rawalpindi police officials.

The ongoing Special Polio Eradication campaign in the district, mandated by the Punjab government, has prompted the deployment of over 1400 police officers and officials to protect the polio teams. Security arrangements have been meticulously arranged in all Union Councils of the city, encompassing 37 UCs in total. Senior police officers are actively supervising the security personnel on duty, providing necessary briefings to enhance the safety of the polio teams.

SSP Operations Rawalpindi, Flight Lt (R) Hafiz Kamran Asghar, emphasized the intensification of patrolling activities in the areas to closely monitor any suspicious elements. Additionally, motorcycle patrols have been deployed to conduct effective surveillance in the designated polio campaign zones.

The concerted efforts of the Rawalpindi police to bolster security measures for the ongoing polio campaign underscore the commitment to ensuring the successful execution of vital public health initiatives. With a robust security apparatus in place, the safety of polio workers and teams remains a top priority in the collective endeavor to eradicate polio from the region.
