Punjab's Local Government Minister hands over vehicles to Lahore administration to improve municipal services and support local government system. Efforts underway for local government elections and agricultural reforms.

Punjab's Local Government Minister, Zeeshan Rafique, recently handed over 17 vehicles worth Rs. 222 million to Deputy Commissioner Lahore/Administrator Metropolitan Corporation Rafeya Haider. This initiative aims to enhance municipal services in Lahore, addressing the challenges faced by the Metropolitan Corporation Lahore (MCL) due to the lack of new vehicles despite the city's population growth.

The inadequate vehicle supply has impacted crucial operations such as anti-encroachment efforts, prompting the government to approve the procurement of vehicles to bolster these services. The Chief Minister's vision includes ensuring cleanliness province-wide and initiating a comprehensive plan to revamp Lahore, emphasizing the importance of a well-functioning local government system.

The previous government faced criticism for abruptly dissolving local bodies, but the current administration is committed to conducting local government elections and supporting the local government system. Preparations are underway for a new local body act under the Chief Minister's directives, demonstrating a proactive approach to governance.

Furthermore, efforts are being made to introduce a comprehensive package to address wheat-related issues and support farmers, highlighting the government's dedication to improving agricultural practices and ensuring food security.
