The Pakistan Meteorological Department issues a warning as a heatwave hits Karachi, Hyderabad, and Sindh, urging residents to take precautions against scorching temperatures.

A heatwave is set to sweep across Karachi, Hyderabad, and various parts of Sindh, bringing scorching temperatures well above normal levels. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a warning that temperatures will rise significantly starting from May 21 through May 27. This weather phenomenon is linked to a shallow westerly wave prevailing over the upper regions of Pakistan.

From Sunday evening to Tuesday, residents can expect hot and dry conditions in these areas, accompanied by gusty winds and potential windstorms during the afternoons. In Karachi, temperatures are forecasted to reach 37-40°C on Monday and Tuesday, while Hyderabad may experience even higher temperatures ranging from 44-47°C.

Recent weather data shows that the region is already experiencing elevated temperatures. Nawabshah recorded the highest temperature at 49°C, with Karachi and Hyderabad also facing intense heat. Karachi reached 40°C with a morning humidity of 68%, and Hyderabad saw a maximum of 45°C with a morning humidity of 34%.

As the heatwave intensifies, it is crucial for residents to take precautions to stay safe and hydrated. Avoid prolonged exposure to the sun, drink plenty of water, and seek shade whenever possible. Keep an eye out for any official updates or advisories from the PMD and local authorities to stay informed about the evolving weather conditions.
