The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a warning for severe weather conditions in various parts of the country. According to the forecast, rain, windstorms, thunderstorms, and hailstorms are expected to hit Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, Islamabad, Punjab, and Balochistan within the next 24 hours. Additionally, scattered rain and thunderstorms are likely in Sindh.

A strong westerly wave is currently affecting Balochistan and is anticipated to move towards the upper regions by April 18. This weather system could lead to heavy rainfall, potentially causing flash flooding in several areas, including Gwadar, Jiwani, Pasni, and other parts of Balochistan. Similar risks of flash flooding exist in Dir, Swat, Chitral, Kohistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, and areas along the Kabul River from April 18 to 20.

Furthermore, there is a possibility of landslides in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galiyat, Kashmir, and Gilgit Baltistan from April 18 to 21. The adverse weather conditions may also result in damage to crops, structures, vehicles, and solar panels due to windstorms, hailstorms, and lightning strikes.

Recent data shows that Balochistan and upper Sindh have already experienced rain, wind, and thunderstorms, with heavy rainfall reported in south Balochistan. Notable rainfall measurements include 94 mm in Gwadar, 84 mm in Jiwani, and 31 mm in Pasni. Maximum temperatures in various regions have reached as high as 42°C in Mithi and 40°C in Chhor.

Residents in the affected areas are advised to take necessary precautions and stay updated on weather alerts to ensure their safety and well-being during this period of heightened weather activity.
