AJK Wildlife Department Seeks Justice for Leopard Cubs

The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) wildlife department officials are currently engaged in a search operation to locate the bodies of two leopard cubs that were reportedly shot dead on June 16 in the Phgwan Dupatta area of Muzaffarabad. The incident came to light when concerned locals came across distressing images of the lifeless cubs circulating on social media platforms.

Upon being informed about the alleged killing, teams from the Forestry, Wildlife and Fisheries Department were promptly dispatched to investigate the matter. Director Naeem Iftikhar Dar emphasized the need for concrete evidence before making any official statements regarding the incident. Reports from residents indicated hearing gunshots in the vicinity, leading to demands for legal action against those responsible. Despite extensive search efforts, the bodies of the leopard cubs have yet to be discovered.

In a plea for assistance, wildlife officials are urging any potential eyewitnesses to step forward and provide any relevant information that could aid in the ongoing investigation. The disturbing images that sparked outrage among animal rights advocates have been removed from social media platforms. However, efforts to trace the origin of these images have so far been unsuccessful.
