Commissioner Aamir Khattak leads push for transparent and timely development projects

Commissioner Aamir Khattak of Rawalpindi Division chaired a crucial meeting emphasizing the significance of quality and transparency in ongoing development projects. Stressing the detrimental effects of delays on project effectiveness, he called for timely completion. A key focus was the launch of a rainwater harvesting and water treatment project in Murree to address local water needs through rainwater conservation.

The meeting saw the Public Health department presenting 13 schemes, with requests for extension of gestation periods for projects in Rawalpindi, Jhelum, and Chakwal. Notable deadlines were set for drainage and sewerage schemes in Wah Cantt and the construction of PCC streets and drainage systems in Chaklala Cantonment Board, due for completion by June.

The highway department proposed five schemes for revised approval, targeting road construction and repair projects in Chakwal and District Jehlum. Commissioner Khattak stressed the importance of evaluating schemes rigorously to avoid duplication, advocating for GIS mapping to prevent overlapping development efforts.

Standardization in development interventions across Rawalpindi was highlighted, with an emphasis on ensuring project longevity and quality to minimize future repair needs. The meeting, attended by key officials from relevant government departments, aimed to streamline development efforts and enhance infrastructure in the region.
