Counter Terrorism Department arrests 44 terrorists in Punjab

The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) in Lahore has successfully carried out a series of intelligence-based operations resulting in the arrest of 44 terrorists across various cities in Punjab. These operations were conducted to ensure the safety and security of the citizens in the region.

During the operations, two individuals associated with the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were apprehended in Lahore. The seized items from the terrorists included dangerous explosives such as a suicide vest, a hand grenade, detonators, fuse wire, IED bombs, prima card, along with mobile phones and cash. The detained suspects have been identified as Muhammad Khan, Abdul Rauf, Habibullah, Muhammad Shahzad, Hamayatullah, Osama, Azeem, Tariq Khan, Tanveer Ahmed, and Ahsan.

CTD officials have disclosed that the terrorists had sinister plans to carry out attacks at various locations, posing a significant threat to public safety. Prior to these recent arrests, a total of 673 individuals were detained during 2,738 combing operations conducted in May. Additionally, a staggering 96,796 individuals were interrogated during these extensive operations.

The swift and decisive actions taken by the Counter Terrorism Department have undoubtedly thwarted potential terrorist activities and ensured the safety of the residents in Punjab.
